Proposed logo for Lehigh University’s Center for Student Access and Success
This Lehigh University organization sponsors programs for first generation, low income, and minority students. Center for Student Access and Success aims to provide community for students in the program.
As co-creative director for Lehigh University’s Fusion, in-house student-run design agency, I met directly with the client and conceived a look that complements the department’s vision and champions the students they represent.
The goal of this logo is an ode to Lehigh’s overarching branding. The sun is repeated in Lehigh’s crest and throughout campus. The colors, yellow and brown, are chosen directly from Lehigh’s branding guidelines. The bridge is placed in the logo per the client’s request. The bridge is symbolic of joining people together and helping them reach their goals and achieve success at Lehigh.
After meeting with the client, I turned to my sketchbook and began to create icons. Lehigh University’s crest features a sun, and I thought it would be a nice ode to the University to pair a sun with a bridge that the client requested.
After I was satisfied with some of my sketches, I began to create icons in Illustrator. Here is a step by step process of how I got to the final icon that the Fusion team presented to the clients, along with other student’s designs.
After the client decided they liked my icon the best, I created a few variations of the icon with type that I presented to them.
Here is the final logo chosen by the client. I added a brown frame as per the clients direction
